Ezekiel 29:1-16 & 30:20-31:18

29:1-16 | Beating a dead horse, I’ll tie this into the recurring image of the box o’ sin or Jeremiah’s Jerusalem from chapter 21 of his book.  The punishment God describes for Egypt is warranted because Egypt is the box that Israel clings to.  In this image, it is a reed that the people grasped in an attempt to stave off God’s punishment, and like every other worldly alternative to God’s will, it fails and brings more harm to the people than they would have received if they had confessed and repented of their ways.
